Specialist lawyer for criminal law
Criminal defense since 2007
During this time, I have been able to learn and experience a lot - experiences that have shaped me, sharpened my view of criminal law and shaped the way I work today.
However, my path to criminal defense began much earlier. Already during my studies in Constance, I consistently focused on criminal law. During my legal clerkship, I also specifically chose stations with a criminal law focus - including a renowned criminal defense lawyer with a focus on capital criminal cases and one of Germany's leading commercial criminal lawyers.
My first professional steps as a defense lawyer took me to Heidelberg, where I initially worked in general criminal law and later in commercial and tax criminal law. After a stopover in Munich, I finally came to Frankfurt am Main in 2013, where I have lived and worked ever since.
Here I was able to further deepen my expertise - first at the law firm Dr. iur. Felix Dörr & Kollegen, later as a local partner at Tsambikakis Rechtsanwälte. This time enabled me to develop my professional skills and make a name for myself as a criminal defense lawyer.
Since the founding of our law firm Rumpf & Schmidt-Tüshaus Part mbB in 2021, the defense in medical criminal proceedings has been a particular focus of my work. In particular, I defend in cases of alleged excesses in hospitals, which often attract media attention due to their explosive nature. Unfortunately, this cannot always be avoided - but at best it can be handled in a less invasive manner.
Another focus of my work is criminal tax law. Here, I often defend clients in close cooperation with experienced tax lawyers and advisors in order to make the best possible use of the interface between substantive tax law and criminal defense. This interdisciplinary approach makes it possible to achieve symbiotic effects between tax law and criminal law and to advise clients holistically. A special area of my work is also the criminal law support of voluntary disclosures in order to strategically protect clients in complex tax law conflict situations.
Finally, providing criminal law advice to companies in various acute conflict situations is another important focus of my work. In particular, this involves providing strategic support in investigation proceedings, dealing with official measures and preventing criminal law risks within the company.
In addition to my work as a criminal defense lawyer, I act as an external legal ombudsman for international industrial companies and am involved in various professional associations for criminal defense. I also publish in professional journals and comment in an established commentary on criminal tax law.
